about
originally titled "What to Do In Purgatory / Close Your Eyes and Draw Something" but that's long and was annoying to fit on the cassette track list so...
lyrics
these days i am floating i’m stitching i’m sowing together the pieces
i wake up and i see the ceiling
i wrote a letter that I never sent I put it in a box
it’s in the corner of my room
in the springtime I heard the baby birds
crying out in the thunder and rain
i feel the same
when I’m late night scrolling infinitely going down
i’m lost in a black hole
come get me out
well we must be going somewhere, must be going somewhere
well what do I do in the meantime, I asked
what do I do in purgatory?
i got nothing back
you should let me know if you’re not tryna hang
'cuz you leave me hanging in my brain
what is your game?
dear landlord next door i am sorry that i am so loud
why can’t we be friends? [thx for the tomatoes]
i only recently realized i’m in for a long ride
i can’t recall ever asking to play
well, okay
well we must be going somewhere, must be going somewhere
well what do I do in the meantime, I asked
what do I do in purgatory?
i got nothing back
i asked again...nothin
...i heard
imagine your ideals make them real
close your eyes and draw something
what is it you want?
darlin you can have it
what is it you want?
babe you can take it
what do you want?
darlin you are divine
to not be tired all of the time
to be debt free
i don’t want to be addicted to anything
and I want, if you want
you to have the same
where do I even start with this shit
DB has a really simple way of making songs but they take those simple things and build on them in effective ways. they're able to get nuanced without getting lost. I'm particularly into Julie's vocals and that lead guitar, something about it just feels so alive.
thanks you guys, hope you drop something soon. slugs-eat-slugs
Woozy, rollicking indie rock that's thick and humid, searching vocals set against pealing guitars. Also available on cassette. Bandcamp New & Notable Aug 22, 2016
Juxtaposing poetic balladry with roaring feedback and warped piano lines, the Vermonter's music is as stunning as it is unsettling. Bandcamp New & Notable Jan 21, 2024
